Peak Resorts to build near Chesterfield
The UK’s PM David Cameron is set to announce the partnership during his tour of America this week. The development will see a new £400m integrated all-weather, year round leisure, health, sport and education destination on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
The investment will see a UK development company and US firm Grand Heritage Hotel Group join forces to deliver the project. It’s expected to create 1,300 full time jobs when it opens and hundreds more across the construction and development trades over the next three and half years.
The proposal will also dramatically improve the tourism within the area and provide a welcome boost to businesses in the local economy.
Peak Resorts will bring together leading hospitality, university, sport and medical expertise, whilst offering 600 holiday apartments, a hotel and hostel units with 250 woodland lodges.
UK and US set to announce more trade and investment deals
During David Cameron’s time in the US he is set to discuss economic issues with President Obama. He welcomed the latest partnership between the countries: “This partnership between US investor Grand Heritage Hotel Group and a UK development company will deliver a phenomenal boost to the leisure industry in the Peak District.
“This £400m investment will deliver a world-class resort complex creating over 1,300 permanent jobs when it is completed and supporting hundreds of construction jobs as the site is developed.”
The UK’s relationship with the US continues to thrive, with an announcement due outlining investment deals between the two worth more than £1.1billion, creating 1,700 jobs in the UK.
The US is the UK’s biggest trade partner with exports to the US worth nearly £90 billion in 2013 – more than any other country in the EU.
Richard Carr comment
Richard Carr believes it is good to see the UK and US working together to help create jobs and leisure activities in the country; it will also help boost tourism within the area.
He added that it’s important the relationship between the UK and the US continues to thrive as it will benefit the lives of everyone; we should nurture the world for trade not just the EU!
