Richard Carr believes that work on building new homes will rise in the UK following new government funding announced by Housing Minister Brandon Lewis earlier this month.
£3m provided to help deliver new homes
Commercial and residential property consultant Richard Carr has been involved in planning for 30 years. He has a deep understanding of what is required to achieve success even in the most difficult of cases.
He is an expert in achieving planning permission for residential and commercial properties and believes that the new government funding will help improve the country’s housing market.
The £3m fund announced by Lewis will deliver up to 25,000 new homes up and down the country on that sites that have already been given planning permission, but remain caught up in red tape.
Families to benefit from wave of homes
The fund will be shared across 60 bids from councils. The money will help re-ignite large housing developments where planning barriers have restricted work.
Housing and Planning Minister Brandon Lewis explained:
“Our work to reform the planning system and get Britain building has already cleared the way to build almost half a million new homes since 2010, and seen planning permission granted on 230,000 homes in the last 12 months alone.
“The £3 million will be a boost to sites that have the green light for development but are being held back by red tape.
“The money will help councils clear the way for builders to get on site and get work underway quickly, providing families with new homes.”
Housing building key to long term economy
Since 2010 the government has helped deliver half a million homes and has radically reformed the planning system to put power back in the hands of communities.
Also, new measures in the ‘Infrastructure Bill’ on planning conditions will further cut the time it takes for sites with planning permission to start, giving much needed certainty to both small and large builders around when decisions will be made and supporting ongoing housing starts.
There is the potential for everyone to benefit says Richard Carr
In Richard Carr’s opinion he believes that the government funding will prove very positive. Local communities will benefit with more variety in the housing market; the new homes will also help redevelop run down areas of towns and cities.
It will provide developers and construction companies with work, whilst easing the pressure on the housing market. Also, families and young adults should find it easier to get on the housing ladder.
