Buildingtalk.com is recognised as one of the UK’s best resource websites for building professionals that delivers construction news, product and technical specifications, as well as case studies from suppliers across the industry.
The website published Fortitudo’s and Richard’s developments, titled: ‘Private/Public partnerships help bridge the social housing gap’.
The UK’s social housing problems is at a critical stage with taxpayers forking out £4 billion a year to cover the rising cost. To counteract the problem, a number of private and public partnerships are helping to bridge the social housing gap by focusing on new building developments.
Richard Carr’s project for Fortitudo, which will see 36 luxury apartments built on Lillyput Road, will contribute £300,000 in social housing and £1m in community infrastructure levy payments to Poole Borough Council.
The payments are the largest ever received by the council and will help fund new social housing projects and facilities for local residents.
Richard Carr of Fortitudo Property has commented on the partnership: “I am pleased we have managed to achieve this for Poole and still have a viable business model moving forward.”
“Our latest development will help ease the burden of social housing on the local council, whilst the CIL contribution will help build new facilities for residents.”
